Learning shapes with food!

Identifying and understanding different shapes that surround us is an important mathematical milestone. This is where it all begins and the journey is simply magical!

There is also a certain thrill in being able to point at an object and to identify it correctly. We at Presidency took this into consideration and planned “Shapes with food” activity for our Nursery children on 4th January 2020. We used different types of food to make it interesting because everything is more interesting when food is involved!

The Shapes with Food activity started with a brief introduction about food and shapes. The teachers later took examples of food such as fruits, biscuits, and idly to explain that each of them has a definite shape. Children were gazing and listening to their teacher the entire time intently, enthralled by the activity.

We would like to thank all the parents of our Nursery children who actively participated in the activity. Especially G.Varshini and Adhvik displayed multiple foods with multiple themes from salad decoration to a display about perishable and non-perishable food. This collaboration made the activity all the more interesting.

At Presidency, we always look at ways to make learning engaging because activity-based learning has proven to be one of the most effective methods today. Alongside, it is a delight that our parents are always encouraging and supporting us, giving us the liberty to use multiple teaching methodologies. We thank you all and assure you that we will always work towards providing children with an excellent and conducive learning environment.
